Former Polish president and Nobel laureate Lech Walesa has published on the Internet about 500 pages of files disproving - according to Lech Walesa - allegations that he collaborated with communist-era secret police in the 1980s.
A new law that took effect at the beginning of the year requires 700,000 people including journalists and teachers - to be lustrated for Soviet-era collaboration. The law was originated by Poland's president and prime minister, former Solidarity activists Lech and Jaroslaw Kaczynski in order to clear the country from those who collaborated with the communist era secret police. “Critics warn the law threatens to implicate the innocent because the secret police files sometimes contain incomplete or ambiguous information, or even lies fabricated by agents to win points with superiors.” Read more at www.canada.com/topics/news |
