This year, as a promotional offer, from noon until 5:00 p.m., festival admission is only 50 cents and goes up to only $5.00 in the evening hours. Guests will enjoy a weekend of great non-stop cultural entertainment and a variety of Polish foods. A wide spectrum of musical performances will include 16-time Grammy Award Winner Jimmy Sturr, Marszałek Chicago Band, Anya, jazz singer Grażyna Auguścik, classical accordionist Lidia Kaminska and more. Sunday's children entertainment will be provided by Radio Disney. Everyone will find something of interests at the Polish Fest. You could visit the cultural village to see the Kwasniewski Photographic Collection, which depicts the activities in Milwaukee's South Side Polish Community in the first half of the 20th century. Another interesting option is attending a program given by Milwaukee historian/author John Gurda, or joining Chef Mike Artlip as he demonstrates heart-healthy versions of popular Polish bakery. No one should miss the 83 foot long Polish American Jamestown Association float celebrating the 400th anniversary of Jamestown and the contribution of Polish pioneers. Throughout the weekend everyone will find a nice balance of Polish and Polish American entertainment for the entire family, including a new Children's play area with a giant inflatable slide, an inflatable obstacle rat race course, a tiger bounce, miniature golf and lots of fun games available for a small fee. Also, you can buy authentic Polish crafts and items in the Sukiennice Marketplace. The sky will be lit by fireworks Friday & Saturday at 10 p.m. Saturday evening offers an opportunity for fireworks fans to enter the gates for free from 8 p.m. to midnight with a donation of three or more non-perishable food items to the Hunger Task Force. Reduced admission is also available to those attending Sunday morning mass at 10:15 a.m. at the Cultural Stage. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. and will close promptly at 11 a.m. Those attending mass will be admitted into Polish Fest for only $4 following the mass. Ticket prices are $8 in advance and for seniors and $10 at the gate. Children 15 and under are free with an adult admission. To purchase advance tickets or to request a brochure, please call the Polish Fest office at 414-529-2140, or visit online at www.polishfest.org |
